Rose beetles that got away: 3.
They're really quite pretty, with their copper and green, and Gerald Durrell wrote about them fetchingly in My Family and Other Animals, but they eat my roses and I won't have it. Gardening brings out my ruthless streak.
Cats that peed on furniture this morning: 1.
Frustrated and furious cat-moms: 1.
It sounds like a tie, but I think the cats are winning. If nothing else, I'm going to wind up living in a house where the couch is covered in plastic. How . . . retro.

Yes, very retro. Kind of cool, if you think about it. Though I'm not sure how comfortable it is...especially in the summer..
