Heh - I love it, and I keep a photocopy of the kind of text I work with (later, but still unintelligible to most people) precisely to wave in the face of my American history colleagues when they get too smug. One who works on 19th century Texas at one point was complaining about how slow and tedious it was to read through his sources, merchant directories, locally available, in PRINT and in ENGLISH. You can imagine how sympathetic I was.
