Good times

It's a good day that contains both manuscripts and dancing.

Sorry, that's all I have right now.

This is very sweet and nostalgic -- and very true. I'm probably about the same age, and had some of the same experiences. In my case, I had gotten to know my YM for a little less than a year before we were apart for five months and writing letters. And you're right: they were a constructed voice, but perhaps the more solid foundation allowed things to work, in the long run.

We stayed together, though we sometimes worked apart for a year here or there... but in the long run we're still a couple. Those days of pouring our hearts onto the page were so different than contemporary ways of communicating instantly, and its odd to think of how quickly things change. These experiences will likely never be common again. Knowing how someone represents themselves as an ideal can be a valuable complement to knowing them as a real companion -- but you do need the latter to complement the former.

Oops! Somehow I attached this comment to the wrong post -- should have been the one on LDRs!
